Lord, morning sickness sucks & I’m over it!

Journal entry from 04/07/2024

Ah! Pregnancy hormones at their finest. Ever been there?

At the time, I was juggling a 9-month-old and was roughly 6 weeks pregnant. Nausea had begun with a bang. It just made everything worse. I could barely wrangle my emotions enough to throw it onto paper and once it did, I didn’t have many nice things to say.

But that’s OK, right? My Abba Father already knew what I was feeling and thinking.

“O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar…” Psalm 139:1-2

That’s a comforting truth. We don’t have to try and hide our authentic emotions from Him. He already knows, so we might as well bring it to the light!

Writing it all out was an opportunity to vent while also getting rightfully convicted. It was OK for me to feel and to talk about how I felt, but I knew that God wanted better for me (Jeremiah 29:11). I’m sure that the Lord also didn’t want those feelings to fester into animosity towards my unborn child so I’m grateful for how He was changing my heart even as I wrote out the words.

If you’re one of those blessed mamas who didn’t experience unbearable morning sickness, what’s your secret? LOL.

But really, if you struggle with morning sickness or just nausea in general, it sucks but we all get through it one way or another!

One solution that helped me tremendously in BOTH pregnancies was taking 25 mg of vitamin B6 & half a tablet of Unisom Sleep Tabs. I took it only at night for my first pregnancy throughout the WHOLE pregnancy. For my second pregnancy, I had to do that same combination but at night AND in the morning (no, it didn’t make me sleepy for the whole day) for at least my first trimester. Obviously, check with your medical provider before dabbling with this, just in case!
